Welcome to Youth Ministry

Saint Kateri is a community that empowers the young people of today to be the leaders of our church now and in the future!

Youth Opportunities

Through small groups, leadership development, retreats, service projects, CYO athletics, and many other fun opportunities, teens explore their faith, build friendships, and grow closer to God.

The Service Project

Here, at Saint Kateri, serving others is part of who we are, not just something good to do. We call our service ministries ‘the service project’ because it is ongoing, open to all, and helps to develop skills in our young people that last a lifetime. Some of our service partners are Bethany House, St. Joseph's House of Hospitality, House of Mercy, and more.

Peer Ministry Team

Our peer ministry team designs, directs, and implements many of our youth ministry opportunities, as well as, engages in parish-wide and community initiatives.
A peer minister is someone with strong faith, a desire to build skills and relationships, and has an openness and willingness to grow and lead others.
Current 9-12th graders are encouraged to consider joining our team.

Small Groups

Small groups provide teens the opportunity to connect with peers and share together. The format is food, talk/video, and discussion. We provide options for groups to meet weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Those new to small groups are encouraged to experience Youth Alpha first.

Retreats

Retreat away with God and friends! Retreat experiences are offered for teens at various times throughout the year. These are day experiences to engage in prayer, spiritual growth, faith sharing, and lots of community building. Teens in our Confirmation program attend one retreat each year.

Upcoming retreats

Confirmation

Confirmation preparation is a dynamic, project-based process that includes community building, formation in theology, service opportunities, annual retreat, Mass attendance, parent/sponsor sessions.
Under our Diocesan Policy, Catholic and Public School youth who are in grade 8 and up can begin the two year process to prepare for Confirmation.

CYO Athletics

CYO Athletics is a ministry of Saint Kateri Parish in collaboration with the Diocese of Rochester Department of Evangelization and Catechesis. At Saint Kateri we promote CYO athletics as a way for our young people to practice good sportsmanship on and off the court/field. It is part of our mission of welcoming all people to "Be Christ to the World."
CYO Soccer is for girls and boys in grades 3-6.
CYO Basketball is for girls and boys in grades 3-12.

Leadership

Youth gain leadership skills through a variety of opportunities, including Mass roles of lector, server, Eucharistic Minister; and by leading youth and children programs.
We also recognize our seniors through the annual Diocesan Hands of Christ Award.
